Small business SEO Sydney
Small business SEO in Sydney
Most Sydney small businesses do not need an agency. They need their Google Business Profile set up properly, a website that loads fast and says where they work, a handful of pages that answer the questions customers actually type, and someone who checks on it every month.
What local SEO means in 2026
When someone in Sydney searches for a plumber, a physio or an accountant, Google shows a map with three businesses before it shows any website. Getting into that map pack, and then having a website that converts the click, is most of the job.
The signals are well known: a complete and active Business Profile, consistent name, address and phone details across the web, reviews that keep arriving, pages on your site that match each service and each area you serve, and a site that loads quickly on a phone. None of it is clever. All of it has to be done properly and kept up.
- 01Business ProfileCategories, services, hours, photos, posts, Q&A, and a review request system that your staff can actually run.
- 02Location and service pagesOne good page per service and per area you genuinely serve, written for people, not templated by suburb.
- 03Technical basicsSpeed, mobile layout, structured data, and a contact path that works on a phone.
- 04Reviews and citationsConsistent details everywhere you are listed, and a steady flow of real reviews.
The Local SEO retainer
Set up properly
Audit of the site and the Business Profile. Profile set up or repaired. Citation and NAP clean-up. Location and service pages written or rewritten. Technical fixes. Search Console and GA4 configured so we can see enquiries, not just visits.
Keep it moving
Business Profile posts and Q&A. Review requests. One new or improved page. Technical health check. A short report showing map views, calls, direction requests, organic traffic and enquiries, with a note on what to do next.
Local SEO retainer
$1,200 / month ex GST
Three-month minimum, then month to month
- One business, one or a few locations
- About seven hours of my time each month
- Maximum of three retainer clients across the practice
Multiple locations
If you have more than one outlet, each one needs its own Business Profile and its own page, with its own photos, hours and local detail. I set these up so each location ranks on its own.
What I will not do is create pages for suburbs you do not actually serve, or spin the same text with the place name swapped. Google’s spam policies now name that practice, and it hurts the pages that deserve to rank.
Is this the right fit?
- Yes if you win work from a suburb, a region or a service area, and the phone matters more than the shopping cart.
- Yes if you have a website already, even a tired one. It is usually cheaper to fix than replace.
- Probably not if you compete on Sydney-wide or national terms against well-funded competitors. That is the Growth retainer.
- Not yet if your budget is under $1,000 a month. Buy the audit and do the work yourself with the roadmap.
Questions
How long before local SEO works?
Business Profile improvements often show in the map pack within a few weeks. Website changes and new pages usually take 6 to 12 weeks to settle. I will give you a realistic timeline after the audit.
Do I need a new website?
Rarely. Most small-business sites can be made fast and findable without a rebuild. If yours genuinely needs replacing I will say so, and that work happens through Frequency Digital, not inside this retainer.
Can I do some of this myself?
Yes, and I will show you how. Review requests, Business Profile posts and photos are things your team should own. The audit roadmap is written so that an owner can act on it.
What is included in the price?
My time and my work, about seven hours a month. Not included: ad spend, paid directory listings, photography, or developer time on a platform I do not work on. I will tell you in advance if any of those are needed.
